How We Help

Why We Exist

BASIC NEEDS

CEMSF provides emergency financial assistance for essential needs such as food, car repairs, transportation, and other urgent expenses. Whether it’s purchasing a generator for a veteran who relies on a respirator or covering the cost of emergency auto repairs, our goal is to offer timely, compassionate support when it matters most. We also provide holiday meals and Christmas gifts for veteran families.

In addition to supporting veterans in life, we honor them in death. CEMSF ensures that veterans are laid to rest with dignity by covering burial expenses when needed.

    Testimonials

“I cannot thank you and the Military Support Foundation for rescuing me.  I was in a hard place.  I have all these appointments in Decatur that the VA set up for me and no way to get there.  I was so discouraged, but I remember reading about a group of residents in Chateau Elan who helped Veterans and active-duty military.  I called my VA 800 number and they gave me a number to call.  The rest is history.  I just moved into my low-income senior apartment, and things are tight.  I am so glad that I am forever grateful for your help.  The VA lets some of us fall through the cracks.  God put it in your hearts to help!  God bless! Don’t stop doing what you do.  You all have no idea what you have done for me.  Just the fact that your hearts were willing to help someone (me) who needed help.  I thank God for your group.  If I can help in any way, don’t hesitate to ask.  If I can, I will!”

    HOUSING ASSISTANCE

CEMSF helps ensure that no veteran is left without a safe place to call home. We provide emergency temporary housing for veterans in crisis and assist with home repairs and renovations for disabled and struggling veterans. Through partnerships like Gwinnett/Walton Habitat for Humanity, we also contribute labor and funding to help build new homes for veterans and their families—creating stability, dignity, and hope for the future.

    MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT

CEMSF is committed to supporting the mental health and well-being of the men and women who have served our nation. Mental health remains a critical issue for North Georgia veterans, who face higher suicide rates and significantly greater prevalence of PTSD compared to the general population. In response, we have made veteran mental wellness a priority, committing a minimum of 50% of our annual distributions to programs that support mental health and well-being.

In 2025, we exceeded this commitment by dedicating 57.6% of our net operating income—more than $60,000—to initiatives focused on mental health support for North Georgia veterans.

In addition, we support Doc’s Healing Hives, a North Georgia organization that helps veterans find healing and renewed purpose through the therapeutic vocation of beekeeping.

Through these partnerships and investments, CEMSF continues to expand access to meaningful mental health resources and support systems for veterans throughout North Georgia.

    HONORING VETERANS

While our primary focus is helping veterans in need, we also participate in projects that honor veterans. In 2025, CEMSF sponsored wreaths through Wreaths Across America to honor the legacy of 25 American heroes. These wreaths were placed in a local cemetery.
